Purple is the Color – „Unbemanntes Raumschiff' When Purple is the Color became the stage band at Vienna’s renowned jazz club Porgy & Bess in 2023, it was clear: this season would be something special. Nine concerts, nine unique programs – a creative explosion that demanded an album.Since their last release Epic (2020), much has happened. The musicians have grown – both as individuals and as an ensemble. The band’s sound has shifted: away from something deliberately shaped toward something organic, free. With Unbemanntes Raumschiff (unmanned spaceship), they capture this very moment. Recorded intuitively at Franz Schaden’s Wavegarden Studio with minimal post-production, the music thrives on instinct and a blind musical understanding. It’s not about perfection, but about the raw energy of the moment.The title track, elevated by David Furrer’s guitar playing, carries a special melancholy that hovers over the album like a leitmotif.
