It seems incredible to me that anyone as good as Oscar Peterson could still improve, wrote jazz critic Alun Morgan in his review of Night Train in the 1064 April edition of Gramophone. Yet I doubt if there are many better Peterson LPs than Night Train, which was recorded in Los Angeles during December 1962, and where Oscar and his regular trio even manage to say something new on the subject of 'C Jam Blues', and 'Moten Swing', etc. This is magnificent piano playing, as strong as a bank vault, yet supple enough to swing all of the time. This is an extraordinary set. If you haven't bought a Peterson album lately, make this one your choice. - * Leonard Feather, DownBeat
