Minor Gold’s upcoming album 'Way to the Sun', out July 25, 2025, marks a defining chapter in the duo’s creative evolution. Written across Australia and North America, this sun-drenched collection of songs showcases Dan Parsons and Tracy McNeil at their most assured—blending evocative songwriting with rich harmonies and a stripped-back acoustic sound that glows with warmth and clarity. Across ten tracks, 'Way to the Sun' traces a path of movement, connection, and personal insight, all underscored by the unmistakable synergy between two artists completely in step.

The album was recorded over five days in the summer of 2024 at Ultimate Hair Farm, a studio tucked beneath a rented house in the hills of Glendale, California. Far from a sterile recording space, the studio has a laid-back charm—cool, unassuming, and buzzing with creative energy. Between takes, the crew shared barbecues, afternoon hangs, and dips in the pool, soaking in the Southern California sun while shaping the relaxed, organic feel that defines the record. It was the first album ever recorded in that space, and it carries the imprint of that inaugural spirit—fresh, intimate, and full of possibility.

Producer Dan Horne (Circles Around the Sun, Cass McCombs) not only guided the sessions, but also played bass and pedal steel guitar, adding depth and texture without ever crowding the songs. The arrangements lean into the duo’s strengths: acoustic guitars right up front, crisp and articulate, while Parsons and McNeil’s harmonies weave together with effortless precision. These are performances that feel lived-in and genuine—nothing over-polished, nothing forced.

Drummer Austin Beede joined the sessions with a masterful light touch, grounding the songs with a subtle groove that brings to mind legends like James Gadson and John Guerin. His playing gives the songs movement without ever drawing attention away from the heart of the sound.

The title track, 'Way to the Sun,' leads the album with open-hearted clarity—a hopeful anthem that’s already landed on major Spotify and Apple Music playlists. Another early standout, 'Hair Hang Down,' pairs lyrical tenderness with a narcotic groove, earning high rotation on Australia’s Double J and expanding the duo’s growing global reach.
