KRISSY MARY - Virago

Expectations were huge in advance of Krissy Mary’s sophomore album 'Virago', and the album lives up to this i every way. Her mystique and gloomy sounds are perfectly balanced with the more folky and traditional americana sounds - also with an original twist that separates her from her more generic and genre locked peers. Starting of with the first mellow single 'Take a Chance on Me' and softly moving into sadder country vibes with 'All Blue' and the catchy and melodic 'Lovin’ You Baby' adn 'Love Makes Me Sad'. Three great examples on Krissy Mary’s melancholic love songs, with a focus on the process of coming out of relationships, the sorrow, the fear and the impact this has on us. Followed by the brilliant and more rythmic driven second single 'Shake Our Heads' with its sing-a-long chorus. This balance between the almost ritualistic rythmic tracks, ballads and gloomy moods goes on through the album, with Krissy’s beautiful vocal harmonies leading the way - also as mulitlayered backing vocals on several tracks including 'Liquor Man' and the final track, the highly orginal 'Shaking All Over Town'. Passint through the astonishingly mesmerizing 'See This Through', 'Trouble Stay' and 'Sweet Road' on the way. Accompanied by spellbinding flutes, harps and percussion brilliantly produced by Anders Møller and the artist herself. Her critically acclaimed debut album 'Feme Sole' from 2022 was an immediate success, and we are immenesly proud to follow up with this beautiful masterpiece, from one of the most vital artists from the Norwegian alternative scene. And alternative as she migt be, her feet are placed dead in the middle of the thriving Norwegian Americana scene - but also touching more on darker pop sides nodding towards artists such as Weyes Blood and Ane Brun. The singer-songwriter, artist and multi-instrumentalist shows with her new tracks the force and talent as a songwriter and storyteller. With lyrics often concern stories of otherness and loneliness.
