An impressive and critically hailed debut album from a very promising artist and composer refusing to be defined in a simple way. Her album confirms this and ties the different elements which are dragongirl together in a beautiful way. It starts with something reminding of alluring flute melodies on opener 'pink music' while mysterious sounds lurk in the background. The fairytale image is further exposed on 'prophecy girl', a track that after a while drags us into the club music which possibly has defined the artist the most since her debut EP. Her expression is definitely filmatic, like something taken out of a Nicolas Vinding Refn movie. It's organic and natural in a fully electric landscape. There are more of the beautiful synth melodies on "hot blue" then on her previous EPs, nodding towards legends like John Carpenter and other 80s cult soundtrack composers. After a revisit with the album's first single 'isolde's greatest hit' with it's majestic club feel, the second half of the album starts in a mood worthy of Twin Peaks and Angelo Badalamenti on 'drama at the nail salon'. From there on out dragongirl balances between the melodic and the intensely danceable in an elegant way before everything ends in an extended club mix of the single 'twilight sparkle' - a gift to all the clubbers. As dragongirl (Nikoline Ursin Erichsen) dwells in the dark and smudgy club nights of your fantasies, she does so with elegance, magic and wonder. These are beautiful alluring sounds, surging deep into the spritiual planes. Joyful, original and often danceable fantasy music - dressed in aesthetics that could be envied by great pop divas and fantasy fans alike. dragongirl is present in every aspect of her presentation. Composer, producer and artist Nikoline Ursin Erichsen works at the intersection of club music, contemporary music and performance arts. Focused on how music can build worlds, create spaces, create its own form of tactility and put the body in different states. It is only natural that Ursin Erichsen has entered the world of composing for theater as well. ’Tripomatic Fantasies’ (2021) was praised by Norwegian media and was named Album of the day by Bandcamp Daily.
