DELISH - Like A Sieve

2024's most beautiful album! Delish have been lurking in the underground since their beginning as a duo a couple of years ago. A lot has happened since, and the uncompromising, critically acclaimed and enchanting album "Like a Sieve" is everything we could have hoped for! The album kicks off in the cinematic and dreamy realms with "Wash Over", dominated by Natali Abrahamsen Garner's irresistable vocal harmonies and Johan Lindvall's floating keys. "Perspire, Urinate" continues with poetic spoken words, slowly building up and showing Garner's connection to art music and experimental vocals. A carefully designed groove carried forward by organs and vocals, and then taking us into the single "The Shell". The pop elements clearly makes their entrance in what could've been a hit - hadn't it been for the fact that we are letting algorithms with no accept for untraditional compositions and songs over three minutes decide what we re exposed to. "Did You Flow Today" continues in the same spirit. A track slowly developing from the melodic and abstract before it slowly forms into the most beat driven and concrete track on the album. This is pop music that demands patience - and at the same time rewards the listener minute by minute. "Rain" keeps us in the same element that is a constant throughout the album. With field recordings that midway through strijes a Julee Cruise nerve few vocalists can match. "I've Been Running" concludes the album, and is the shortest and maybe most abstract tune - a beautiful peace also summing up the lyrical part of the work. The theme running through the album is clearly visible through the titles and the borrowed and interpreted texts from "Hydrofeminism: Or, On Becoming a Body of Water" by Astrida Neimani. A thoroughly complete concept that binds it all together and makes this a complete work rather than stand alone tracks. Delish impressed with their debut EP "The Dip" last year, with soft, poetic vocals over hypnotic beats, field recordings and experimental and unpredictable soundscapes. Fronted by Natali Abrahamsen Garner and her impressive vocal range, switching between spoken words and enchanting melodies. Garner have proven to be one of the most interesting new voices we have - both through Delish and a series of other projects, including cooperations with Jenny Hval and Susanna Wallumrød as well as her other projects such as the experimental duo Propan. In addition to Garner, Delish is now debuting as a quartet. Featuring Martin Langlie of Valkyrien Allstars on drums an percussion, in addition to founding member Johan Lindvall and Magnus Skavhaug Nergaard.
