Since the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann) nominated ‘Give’ was released to much praise in 2014, the band went into hiatus for a while. A period of maturing, re-structuring and sharpening their best qualities – followed by an intense and focused period of songwriting set to pave the way from there. They then teamed up and locked themselves in with producers Trond Mjøen (Haraball, Haust) and Pål Bredrup (Okkultokrati, Haust) – a duo the band has worked with for years – to find the utmost potential of each riff, hit and vocal line. The result shows a band developing their punk roots and influences musically, and the same uncompromised lyrics – both highly personal and knuckle-to-nose political. #metoo was still miles away when the lyrics for first single ‘Blazing’ was written. A song ‘about people who don’t believe in women telling about their lives’, as the band stated in an interview a while ago. Dark Times have evolved. But their rawness, relevance and catchiness is intact, now set in a grander soundscape opening up a whole new level for the band. With equal parts rock and grungy melodies added to their punk hybrid of noise rock and pop-ish tunes.
