THE 4TH MOVEMENT

Rock and Roll and God - why is it such a perfect fit' It's been five decades since Jesus Christ Superstar took the secular world by storm - but even before that, folks like The Beatles, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Love and The Who (to name but a few) had ruminated on one aspect or another of that crazy little thing called faith. Back then, the auspices of Christian Rock were still being formulated - but by 1980, it was suddenly possible to consider a world with music one might almost call Christian Punk Rock! This was especially true if you were living in the Burlington, Vermont area, where the band called Death were now residing, playing their new music under the name The 4th Movement. Having had no luck with angsty, proto-punkin' plaints about the effed-up nature of the modern world and their place in it, the Hackney brothers were ready to give their hearts to Jesus - but their music was still raw-edged rock 'n' roll. The 4th Movement album has been out of print for decades - only 1000 originally pressed - but given how Death's music's become a punk rock household name, we believe it's time for one and all to hear the clarion call of The 4th Movement.
