I DREAMED I MET LOU REED-I LOST MY BABY TO THE GUY

Gregg Turner first cut his musical teeth in the 1976 proto-punk?band from LA called Vom (as in vomit), which also featured?renowned rock critic Richard Meltzer and trailblazing tunes?such as I'm In Love With Your Mom, Dare To Be Dumb,?and crowd favorite Electrocute Your Cock ('lookin for a hand?job, stick it in a clock').?Vom (reputable for being the only band besides Jim Morrison?and the Doors to be booted off the stage at the Whisky-A-Go-?Go) ultimately morphed into the punk-rock beat combo known?as the Angry Samoans (of which Turner was a co-founding?member with Vom alumnus Metal Mike Saunders). The Sams?gained a rather sizable following in the 1980s and influenced?later-to-be music-scene stalwarts the likes of Nirvana, the?Lemonheads and the Foo Fighters.?In 1993, Turner relocated from Southern California to New?Mexico, where he quickly put together the garage-rockin' Blood?Drained Cows (it's an issue apparently in New Mexico); the?Cows recorded two CDs, an eponymous release in 1998 and?another, 13 (produced by Andy Shernoff of the Dictators), in?2003. More recently, Turner has released his first solo CD: Gregg?Turner Plays The Hits, which he describes as not so punkrock,?but more a hybrid of Tom Lehrer, Roky Erickson and?Jonathan Richman. Song titles include: The Pharmacist From?Walgreens, I Dreamed I Met Lou Reed, Satan's Bride, and?I've Become Flaccid From Eating Bad Acid, as well as covers?of P.F. Sloan's Eve of Destruction and Roky Erickson's Starry?Eyes.?As Turner maintains animus for digital sound, he has also?released a 7 45 rpm vinyl artifact (two of the songs from the?CD: I Dreamed I Met Lou Reed b/w I've Lost My Baby To?The Guy At The Bobcat Bite). All tunes on CD and 45 were?recorded analog on 2 tape.
