Krakeslottet [The Crow's Castle] was written within few days by Louis Jucker as he was spending free time in an ancient fishing cabin on the Norwegian shores of the Atlantic ocean. He didn't really had in mind to do an album, but he knew some instruments were waiting there, and couldn't resist bringing a zoom recorder in his suitcase. He improvised songs on whatever was there: guitar, harmonium, piano, iron stove, some strange Norwegian zither, a typewriter and a whale bone. The recording caught the daily life of the house as well: some children laughs, the slow rhythm of the waves and the whistling of the wind through the old planks of the walls.??The result is a touching brew of experimental folk, captured intentionally far from digital perfection, that sometimes feels like reading some friend's secret travel diary. These 8 delicate tracks can also be taken out of their context as a new and honest attempt from Louis Jucker to develop an art of his own, miles away from any commercial equation, just for the sake of sharing his own experiments through beautiful music.??Later that year, Louis Jucker teamed up with his bandmates from COILGUNS and created a live version of the record that sees those heavy punk musicians play sophisticated and soft arrangements for organs, bass, drums, guitars and a strange tape echo desk.
