Goodbye Normal Street, the new album from Oklahoma natives Turnpike Troubadours is set for release on May 8 on Bossier City Records/Thirty Tigers. Goodbye Normal Street represents the next phase in the young quintet's evolution. Their 2009 release, Diamonds & Gasoline introduced fans to their distinctive sound, as it sold over 30,000 copies independently, and helped establish their rapidly growing fan base. The much-anticipated Goodbye Normal Street is an 11-song collection steeped in roots rock and raw country tradition, peppered with touches of folk, bluegrass, Creole and even pop sensibilities. At the core of all that makes up the Troubadours' sound, the emphasis is clearly on great songwriting.??Formed in 2007 in Stillwater, OK, The Turnpike Troubadours cut their teeth playing bars, dance halls & honky tonks throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico and Arkansas. As 2011 began, the group was quickly winning fans over while supporting popular artists on the famed Red Dirt circuit. Before the end of 2011, The Turnpike Troubadours were selling out their own shows, playing to over 1000 people on many nights. While the Troubadours have quickly begun to make a name for themselves on the circuit, the broader appeal of their sound does not emulate much of what has come out of that scene.??Lead singer/guitarist Evan Felker and bassist R.C. Edwards are equally adept at writing a socially conscious, topical tune (Southeastern Son) as they are at a penning an aching heartbreaker (Gone, Gone, Gone) or a roadhouse romp (Before The Devil Knows We're Dead). The common threads running through all of the tracks are intelligent, thoughtful lyrics, skillful playing and the conviction in Felker's vocals. Rounded out by lead guitarist Ryan Engleman, drummer Gabe Pearson and fiddler Kyle Nix, the Turnpike Troubadours' reputation as one of the best up & coming live bands on the scene is growing almost as quickly as their shows are selling out. The band's music and blue-collar ethic speaks to anyone with an open ear. The Troubadours have a universal sound that does not fit neatly into any one single genre. That is, unless there is one simply called, good music.??Goodbye Normal Street was produced by Turnpike Troubadours with Wes Sharon and recorded at 115 Studios in Norman Oklahoma.??For tour dates please visit: www.turnpiketroubadours.com
